Best TRIP* ever!

OMG... yesterday, whilst I was carrying on with the most mundane of tasks; the hoovering/vacuum cleaning/whatever you want to call it...

I HAD THE MOST *EPIC FALL!!!

I was alone in the sitting room and was just wiping down the surfaces, and my brother and dad were in the kitchen... I was trying to bring the cloth to the kitchen, but the doorway out of the sitting room was blocked by the hoover!

I don't know what I was thinking... but in those brief few seconds, I admit... I thought I was a ninja!!! I did a little running jump, miscalculated, and landed flat on my FACE! :-o

HILARIOUS!

My knees got the brunt of the damage... got carpet burn and a major bruise coming up! But jaysus, I haven't had such a fall in quite some time!!! Made me feel like I was a child again and made me remember all those tumbles that I experienced growing up!

It was weird. I was in pain, but I couldn't help but laugh at myself and smile at how happy I was! :) The pain was totally worth it! haha!

Was such a loud thud, my family must have thought the TV fell over or something! It was quite a dramatic fall!

Finally Starting Study

Official START to the world of STUDY!

Bleugh.

Enough said really.

Ah now, in fairness it's going alright, seeing as I've a month to go, and I've only just started! Freaking out about one subject in particular, but in general, I'm excited about the progress that I will be making, I hope!

Today, Bina is Watching LOST!

Are you found? or are you still LOST?

SPOILER ALERT: This entry discusses the hit show, LOST and may give away plot details and endings. Read on at your own will. Stop here if you will be offended by the following discussion which involved revelations etc.

[Image from: http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/images/reviews/113/1125288963.jpg. Retrieved: 29 March 2010]

So, yes! I am one of those losers who is still watching LOST. I'm not going to pretend I'm the only one though... cos I know there are many closet-LOST-fans out there lol!!

So yes, six seasons in and you are either getting further confused or slowly having that 'A-haaa' moment!

[LAST CHANCE TO STOP READING FOLKS!]

[Image from: http://www.rawkblog.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/lost-20cast.png. Retrieved:29 March 2010 ]

Anyone see the episode that aired last week? (Thursday, RTE2, 9pm or Friday, Sky One, 9pm...yes, we do get it before you, UK, in Ireland :P)

I slowly had that A-HA moment when Jacob explained the island to Richard (Ricarrrrrdo...yummers!) ... Man in Black is evil!!! And the island is indeed a prison, for Man in Black. But now that Jacob is dead (yes, Ben killed him), there's a brief time slot for Man in Black to escape and release his menacing ways to the globe... And he must do it before Jacob is succeeded (by Richard, methinks).

So why are all those other people on the island then (I hear you ask)? If you saw the episode, Jacob explains that there is a goodness in people as well as a darkness. However, Jacob believes that goodness will always prevail. So he brings people to the island to show this Man in Black who believes that darkness always wins.

So is Jacob evil (for bringing people to the island)? In a way, I can see what you're saying... it can be interpretated as Jacob's darkness... to be toying around with peoples' lives in the way that he does. But... he is trying to prove that the humanity in people lives on, even in times of desperation, when it seems plausible that people would turn to darkness, instead they look towards goodness, out of their own will.

Unlike Jacob, Man in Black tries to sway their behaviour by influencing their decisions using a medium of someone they once knew (hence, he is now "evil Locke" ...if you didn't already know, Locke is also dead!). So it seems that darkness only comes about if induced (with a high level of manipulation!)

So the question now is, are you found, or are you still LOST?

Can't wait for the end of this series... I'm so over it at this stage... Just want to know so I can move on with my life! lol!

Today, Bina is... PROCRASTINATING!

It's true... I'm definitely finding wonderful ways to procrastinate... and oddly enough, it doesn't involve sewing! I haven't had any fabric...or any time for fabric shopping and am considering purchasing fabric online...(will update if I find any good sellers!)

So yesterday I made a video... today? I decided to cook!

I'm now grossed out by meat (slightly... but not enough to turn me back to vegetarian ways!) I had to debone the meat, stick it into a blender to make mince and add vegetable.

It turned out great! Like mini chicken burgers... or dippers ...or fritters! Whatever you want to call it! Don't they look yummy!!!

The best part... I get the first taste!
The worst part... the washing up! :( lol! :)

The End is Near!

It's the Friday of Hilary Term Six of my final year... which means next week is Reading Week... (a week off to 'study', I mean STUDY!) but that all implies, I only have four weeks of lectures, and two weeks of study left! :-o

Now I know what you're thinking! 'Calm down... you'll do fine in your exams!' (which I have to start properly studying for ASAP... i.e this week woman!)

But I'm actually panicking because of the thought of not seeing these people everyday!

God, I love my friends!

Happy Valentines Day

So it's that time of year again, the holiday that Hallmark just loves!!!

As a solo lady, I decided to embrace my single status and celebrate it. So I made a heart keycharms for my friends who were also celebrating their first V-Day without a b-f.

It was made from baby pink polymor clay. I decided to paint it red, but I didn't have any acryllic paint! :( I was informed (through a bit of websurfing) that poster paint (or any water-based paint) DOES NOT WORK!

But all I had was watercolours or regular poster paint! :( So I tried it out anyway, and it's true... poster paint sucks on polymer clay! The paint just slides off; it can be wiped off really easily! So I dapped the paint on using the spokes and let it dry and applied some clear nail polish. And it gave off this really cool effect!!!

Because I was making it for my friends, I wrote 'Me' on one side and 'You' on the other. I also made some mini hearts, I added some links and made the keyring. I had a few left over and made myself a phone charm! :)

Who says Valentine's Day is for couples...?

Happy Singles Appreciation Day!!!

In the words of Beyonce,
All the single ladies, PUT YO HANDS UP!
And if you really hate all this Valentine's nonsense... Happy Chinese New Year!!! :)

Hope you're having a great day however you decide to celebrate today!!!!

ARGH!!!! Unfortunately for me, today is sorta tainted by sickness! I went out last night... and feel a bit flu-ey today!! Who am I kidding?! I did it, I ATE CHEESE!!! (I'm not supposed to eat cheese... but I'm NOT lactose-intolerant!) I had cheese on crackers last night before going out... So today, I AM suffering! lol!!!

So I had to drink the yucky Disprin water that's supposed to make me recover! :( And I'm staying in my PJ's all day!!! Muhahaha!Luckily for me, my mom just opened up the box of Lindt choccies!!! Yum yum!

Whatever you decide to do, have a great day!!

It's TAF Week!!

It's Trinity Arts Festival Week this week!!!

This usually means nothing to me... absolutely diddley-squat... but not this year...

In all my years at Trinity College Dublin, I have never really done anything as a part of this amazing festival... so I thought this year, it'll be different!

I read a little schedule. And they have so many amazing events on this year!

Yesterday, I visited the Provost's House!!! This probably means absolutely nothing to you, but it's definitely one thing I can cross off my list... Originally, I actually wanted to meet the Provost and get a photo with him... (I think I'll try do this at Trinity Ball when he's dressed in his finest! lol!) If I can't do that... what's the next best thing? ... getting into his gaff! haha! Oh yea!

And today, I went to a 'make your own jewellery' session! And I made this beautiful piece!

Unfortunately, I ended up having to choose jewellery making over a talk with Apprentice Star Bill Cullen! But all was not lost, I ended up bumping into him on Front Square! yay! totally starstruck! Eep!

Tomorrow, there's a clothes customising workshop on... but unfortunately, I have to do an on-site meeting for a college assignment... Also gonna miss Thrillah! Which was set to be the biggest event ever... (sorry Richie!).

I'm still buzzing from the jewellerymaking!!! :) :)

Check this shizzle out! :D

Ah, the stress of it all...!

Final year is nearing the end... we're halfway through and I still haven't got plans for the summer, let alone, the REST OF MY LIFE...! Confusion strikes me, as I plow through career websites, application forms, online registrations and notifications...

Plenty of opportunity out there... but the real question is, do I want to grab it? There is so much to choose from, and I find myself questioning whether or not it is what I want to do...? Worse still is, do they want me????

Deadlines for the Big-4 passed by back in November (for those of you who don't what the Big-4 are, they are the top four financial companies that offer graduate recruitment programmes!) ...and I only managed to score and interview with one of them! (I was unsuccessful, but they were very helpful in providing me with information, feedback and advice!) It was the same old story with the others... "due to the overwhelming response, we regret to inform you" blah blah blah...!

Now that the summer is almost here, I have been pondering on what to do... I have almost completely run out of funds... which leaves me with very little to start the summer off with... it is clear that I need to find a job... but I want to find one that is somewhat related to my field of business. What's the point of spending four years in a course, and not using it in life?

However, can I afford to be picky? Reality is, that in this day-and-age (hate that phrase! lol!), where unemployment is rife, I must apply everywhere, and to everything... (I mean, did you see the queue for the post of manager in Centra on Grafton Street!)... I gotta pull up my socks and get out there...

Otherwise, my wallet will continue to contain as little as this... :( lol!
[The cards have 0.00 credit on them and the bus ticket only has a few journeys left on it! haha!]

All in all, it's back to the careers website I go... wish me luck! *whispers good luck* hehee!

Now, back to the study...

Brrrr!!!

It's sooooo cold!!! Brrrrr!!!

But atleast my head is warm! :)

I made myself this neat lil number! It's a crochet headband with a flower to decorate! :)

Surprisingly, it does exactly what it says on the can...! (Well you know what I mean! lol!) ...it really does keep my head warm, despite the gaping hole that is usually present with a hat! lol!

Anyway, I'll leave ya with this ...

Check out the cuteness of what I found one morning last week... lil birdie footprints... next to my giant boot footprint! lol!!!

Whoops!!!

Aaah! I broke my New Years resolution!!!

It was a practical one... that would be great for my wellbeing and health... I needed to get more fruit into my system, so my resolution was to eat a piece of fruit each day.

But I forgot yesterday! :( I woke up last night in the middle of the night remembering! lol! :o)

It's okay... just a minor blip...! I got up this morning and had a bowl of porridge full of raisins! So hopefully, this may continue!

Fashion forward snow-woman!!

What do you think of my very-in-trend snow woman? hehee!
She's put her hair up in her hat, and threw on a military style snowcoat and a scarf as she was on her way out...!!

Deadly :o)

The snow man was built with the family minus an older brother...because he's in the UK for study! We missed him dearly today, seeing as it is usually him who starts the snowball rolling... Hence why our snowman is very pyramid like! haha!

Our ball rolling technique failed us and the snowball crumbled straight away so... we just gathered a lot of snow together...

Anywho, here are a few pics of the beautiful snow scenes here in Dublin... well what we can see under the blanket of snow!

I know that a lot of people have been affected by the weather in a bad way... so I went out and took pics of the good things! ...Enjoy!
Hope you enjoy the weather (if you can, that is)!

N*RDie present

I was thinking of a Christmas present for my little brother, but I hadn't thought of any great ideas...

And I had this laptop case lying around, that I got as a college freebie! A company, trying to attract graduates for recruitment purposes, was handing out laptop bags that were branded with their logo[it's been blurred out in the pic below].

Normally, it's only pens and rulers that you get, but I jumped at the chance to grab something different...it's just what you do as a POOR college student! haha!
Before: Laptop Bag Lying around

Anyway, I decided to applique something over the logo and give it to my brother as part of his Christmas present. I had kept a bunch of socks that didn't have a pair... and I had a scrap of fabric leftover from other projects.

So I decided to applique the word, nerd on it. [Decided later to applique 'N*RD' ...kinda neat, eh!]
After: Laptop Bag with Applique lettering

Raining Men? Uh oh! Didn't bring a brolly!

This week started on such a high! We were being pursued by men... and who doesn't love a bit of attention from members of the opposite sex!

It may seem silly, but honestly, I'm not exaggerating! It's the first time since all the girls are all single... that finally, we're all enjoying it!

It feels like after such a LONG DROUGHT of no action...

Humidity's rising, Barometer's getting low!
According to all sources, the street's the place to go!
... It's raining men!

But now, our high doesn't seem quite "high"... Guys are just not even worth the hassle! :(

I know for me, I haven't had much attention over the last year, and I was so flattered to find out that there was someone who liked me (this is beside the point... but he was so yummy, hottie indeed!) I turned to "giggley schoolgirl" mode and was so excited about it. I couldn't help smiling about it, and got slightly obsessed about it, ONLY SLIGHTLY. :o) (It really is the last thing I need, especially in my final year in college!)

But after finding myself getting so easily distracted, I called myself up on it. Why was I letting a man turned me all googley-eyed? Why was I being a total sap about it? The newfound attention wasn't as great as we thought it was initially... As a friend described so aptly, "I'm drowning in the flood".

So I took action, I did not want to turn into THAT girl again. (God knows that I've been that person before... I could not let it re-occur!) The same friend as above has a rule, you see... "Outta my phone, outta my life". I deleted all text messages that I had sent and received. I would have deleted his number but I thought it was best to keep it, if I ever needed to contact him.

After this, I felt like I got my strength back. I'll leave it to him to contact him, ball is totally in his court! :o) Until then, I can continue on, getting on with finding myself and focussing on me for a change, not another man! And I suddenly felt so empowered.

I still see him around now and again, and of course, there is still some mutual flirting and nice sexual tension. But now, I can walk away from it, without a feeling of anxiety! I am now able to separate that aspect of my life and not let it affect me as much as it would have.

Girls, it's so easy to say, "I'd never let a man change me" but when you're in that position, it's very difficult... I found myself change. I let my world revolve around my man... but next time, it won't be the same...

I can't say that I will never let a man change me... but I can definitely say that whatever happens, I will stay as true to myself as I can.

Birthday Surprise!

I love my friends!!! <3

The girls have not been able to surprise me for my birthday for the last few years! So they've really got me this year... Before today, I had always spoiled the surprise for myself by walking in on them setting up the cake etc! :o) Whoops!

But this year... they totally got me! I was starting to suspect something was going on, because there was alot of texting and whispering going on! It was either birthday related OR they were bitching about me...thankfully, it was NOT the latter! :o)

I just assumed they were organising a present for me or something! I had been thinking of getting out of college early and just heading home and now that I think about it, the girls were being so good about it! They came up with great excuses about how it was just a waste of time, and I would not getting anything done, had I gone home. And to atleast stay for lunch with them... cos it would be nice to catch up etc etc! (I should have copped it then!)

Well I should have copped it the day before when one of the girls came over last night and picked an outfit for me to wear for today!? Yeah, I know... I'm slow! :o)

But I walked into the campus food hall! And... a friend was waiting there with my M&S cake and candles all alight! And singing soon followed! The girls were like; did you guess? Did you have any suspicions at all?

And I could honestly say that I HAD NO IDEA that this was happening!!!

They even managed to get a few old friends there too!

So well done girlies! :o) You got me good! Love you all!

Laptop Shopping!

Finally found a laptop for my younger bro! He is one of the fussiest people I know! And has been laptop-less for months!

Initially he had decided on the HP PC tablet (which we got for my older brother for his bday last year!)... but my older bro advised against it due to the uber low battery life!

Then he wanted a Toshiba that was very similar in shape and design to the HP... but he didn't like the keypad... (when you pressed down on a key, it was as if the entire keyboard was about to collapse in!)

Finally, he settled on the HP Pavillion DV3 ...but the one I pointed out to him when he preferred the Toshiba had sold out! Grrrr!

In the end, he found the newest touchscreen version of the HP DV3 and bought it for €1200

...Finally!

Who said girls were worse than boys? Because they were lying!

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween! ... tis a great time of year! :o) But this wasn't always the case for me!

It was hard to celebrate halloween when I was in my teens... when I was young, we went trick-or-treating. But as soon as I hit 11... I found it hard... my parents didn't really want me to be out on Halloween night on my own (and rightly so!). So for those years, I wasn't sure what to do... Do I tell my friends that I'm busy with my family? or should I just tell them, I wasn't allowed?! :o( How sucky was that!

But now, that I'm 20... I know how to enjoy it! For the last few years, we had been doing a family and friends movie night, which consisted of all the Asian kids on the street! We would just pick a house and pick a movie, and stay out till LATE watching movies!

But this year was by far the best... [not because of the quality of the movie as the girl who organised it this year didn't have movies!!!] but because it was the first time we all fit in!
Before, it was really awkward for us older kids to have the younger ones with us watching the scary movies... They didn't want to hang around us as much as we didn't wanna hang around them... Our parents forced us to.

But this time round...those young kids were young adults...all between 15-19... they faced the same challenges I faced as an Asian in a western world...and it became hugely apparent in the time we spent on Halloween night that we were not that different. It was great to know that finally we had a link, a connection. We belonged together as a group. We ended up having a blast on Halloween and talking about things that would have been spoken of before this night!
It's great to (finally) have a network friends in your family who understand!

As you can see from the above, we had a ninja, a molly dolly, a male hooker, a vampire, a nerd, a manga character, the joker, a pimp and smiling zombie at the bottom there!!

Hope you all had a great Halloween, as I did!

Happy Halloween!

Graham Norton, anyone...?

I was watching Mock the Week on BBC one day [it was ages ago] and I was wondering how you get to be in the audience (because I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Dara O'Briain...such a funny man!)! So I went online and did a bit of research! And I found a website after a few minutes!

I signed up to it which emailed you free tickets for various shows! I'd been getting lots of random emails regarding new shows that had not yet been aired which I've been IGNORING so far...

But then randomly, the other week, I got an email for the
GRAHAM NORTON
tickets I requested for his chat show on BBC!!!
So of course, you do the maths...
four tickets + four girlies = FUN FUN FUN!
So I accepted the tickets, told the girlies, and now we're all flying over to LAN-DAN baby! :o) Yay! Flights and hotel booked! Eeeeeeek! Can't wait!

But jaysus, booking the flights was so annoying! Damn you Ryanair! >:( The people setting the rates for taxes and charges are just having a laugh! It was riduculous getting a flight for €9.99 then, ending up with a total of €50 each for the one flight over!!! And worse still, prices constantly changed! So we were trying to book the flights together but it was difficult when we weren't constantly together. At first Luton was cheapest to fly with, but prices soon SOARED! So I told the girlies to wait one more day before booking!

In the end, [screw you, Michael O'Leary in the same way you tried to screw us over...business is business, no hard feelings], we got our flights for under €30 each via Stansted (which was significantly lower than the day before!).

HIP HIP HOORAY!!

Graham Norton is gonna be FAB! Watch out London! The Irish are invading! :o)
